Could the Yulis Limit the Haan Practices to Only Them?

3–5 minutes

The eight Yulis are the archmagi who control the Haan elemental rain’s movements over the Eferian continent and some parts of the neighbouring lands. Including the northern parts of the island of Curena south-west of Nimghrad among others. And the Yulis are also responsible of giving the population of Eferian the ability to perform Dast Casting through the giving of a tethered Minbry-Point.

Apposed from how gods usually function with their powers, however, the eight Yulis’ reign are never eternal.

Every person living in Sagen can become a Yuli. After C’alorus, the creator of Sagen, became trapped within the linked world of Alvenru, the powers of the Haan control were given to the first group of Eferian Elves. Ferian being the first Yuli of Yulis gaining control over the Yulis’ power overall. But since Yulis are regular people, the ability to take or gain a position of Yuli status is possible for everyone living in the Eferian continent. And there are multiple ways this can happen.

So, this leaves the question of how this ever-changing reign of Haan control function with the people who take the Yuli position over Eferian.

Are the Yulis Able to Take Complete Control over Haan?

As C’alorus designed the powers for the created life of Sagen, the Yulis are only able to give the ability of Dast Casting through a tethered Minbry-Point to others. But are unable to withdraw said Minbry-Point after it has been tethered to the person. This makes it impossible for the Yulis to be able to gain complete control over all Haan practices after the first spellcasters were formed.

But, had Ferian and the first Eferian Elven Yulis not given the powers of Dast Casting to others, would they had gained complete control?

And the answer is: yes, technically.

This was the case when the Eferian species gained conscious life in Sagen. Ferian and the other seven Yulis with her did hold the powers of the Haan elements to themselves at first. Though unknowingly. The Eferian people didn’t know what powers Haan held. Nor what Haan was until they began to discover what it was and what it was able to do.

As mentioned in the prophecy:

‘’Eferian’s nature and elemental powers became known as Haan. The High Elves who had been gifted the Yuli powers over the Haan elements saw significant advances within the usage and contributions to Eferian’s life and growth of their civilization. Raining over Sagen, the Haan elements are said to cast themselves over the continent and her neighbouring regions.’’

Most of the knowledge surrounding Haan was discovered when the Elves met the Ckacki, the Avians people. The majority of the Haan characters’ symbols are based in languages from the Ckacki people and Th’emin, the Rodents people. Including the term ‘’Haan’’ which is also a Ckacki language word in the lore. Though shortened, as the full Hu-ka Cka’esei word is ‘’Hoc’Haai’’. The Elves then removed the definer portion in the beginning and made the pronunciation softer.

Thus, pronouncing it ‘’Haan’’.

On their own, the Eferian Elves didn’t have much knowledge surrounding Haan. And it was due to their interactions with the other Eferian species where they were able to gain control of their powers. This would have made it difficult to keep the powers over Haan to themselves since the understanding of Haan itself was accomplished by extending their existence to others in the continent. And too with the knowledge that it was possible for everyone to gain Yuli status did it become dangerous to attempt to do something like it.

This brings it back to how the Yulis aren’t gods but are just regular people amongst others. The main difference between an archmage and a Yuli is that a Yuli can manipulate the movements of the Haan elemental rain. And that is about it when it comes to differences. This also means that a Yuli age just like a regular person of their species. Opposed from a god whose life is eternal.

In Conclusion

Though it was possible for the first Yulis to gain complete control over Haan, the ability to do so was heavily restrained by how the Yuli status was designed by C’alorus when Sagen was created. The original Yulis of the Sagen world gifting the ability of Yuli status for anyone in Eferian was done after the dangers the Haan elements had on their own. Thus, giving the powers of elemental movement control to the people living in Sagen rather than to keep it amongst the ones who created it.
